  3. "Medium voltage system design" is an important document for power plant construction design. Due to the variations of application equipment before and after its order corresponding alterations of electrical consumption are considerable. This results in many changes in the electrical drawings. The CAD technique, particularly powerful word processor, is an ideal solution to the problem.

Assessment

This software has been proved as meeting the design demands of the proposed software development plan through the model tests of physics and mathematics. Its functional accuracy has also been confirmed through various functional tests.

In the process of designing the construction drawings for KUCHING Coal-Fired Power Plant (2X50MW) in Malaysia, this software produced 6kV Power Consumption Calculation Table, 6kV Connection Diagram of Working Bus 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and Spare bus, Equipment Summary Table and Cable List. All of them accorded with the demands. The work of revising the drawings was made much simpler by the use of this software. As a result, the efficiency of design was enhanced significantly.

Appraisal

This software can be used in the computer-aided designs of auxiliary power system for medium voltage in the power plants. It is capable of completing Content of Drawings for 6kV Volume, Power Consumption Calculation, Connection Diagram, Equipment Summary, Cable List and etc. It can also develop English-Chinese drawings. The logic of its design is rational. Text data documents according to the design flow chart and automatic generation of drawing mechanisms were integrated in the software so that it can produce drawings automatically. Drawings documents thus produced can be easily edited or revised by hand. The software is applicable in many spheres and phases of design. It can increase efficiency by 3-5 times.

The software gives a friendly user interface, with a compilation of commonly used calculation and drawings-production commands. Possessing a complete context help and design documents, it is found therefore easy to use and convenient for popularisation. Through trial uses in projects it has been proved to be capable of satisfying all the demands of the project designs. We agree that it can be used in any project.
